【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcovershollowbuildingbrickandhollowfacingbrickmadefromclay,shale,fireclay,ormixturesthereof,andfiredtoincipientfusion.Fourtypesofhollowbrickineachoftwogradesandtwoclassesarecovered.Inthisspecification,thetermhollowbrickshallbeunderstoodtomeanhollowclaymasonryunitswhosenetcross-sectionalarea(solidarea)inanyplaneparalleltothesurface,containingthecores,cells,ordeepfrogs,islessthan75%ofitsgrosscross-sectionalareameasuredinthesameplane(see3.3).Thisspecificationdoesnotcoverbrickintendedforuseaspavingbrick(seeSpecificationC902).1.2Thepropertyrequirementsofthissspecificationapplyatthetimeofpurchase.Theuseofresultsfromtestingofbrickextractedfrommasonrystructuresfordeterminingconformanceornonconformancetothepropertyrequirements(Section5)ofthisstandardisbeyondthescopeofthisspecification.1.3Brickcoveredbythisspecificationaremanufacturedfromclay,shale,orsimilarnaturallyoccurringsubstancesandsubjectedtoaheattreatmentatelevatedtemperatures(firing).Theheattreatmentshalldevelopsufficientfiredbondbetweentheparticulateconstituentstoprovidethestrengthanddurabilityrequirementsofthisspecification.(Seex201C;firingx201D;andx201C;firingbondx201D;inTerminologyC1232.)1.4Hollowbrickdifferfromunglazedstructuralclaytile(SpecificationsC34andC212)andsolidbrick(SpecificationsC62andC216).Hollowbrickrequiregreatershellandwebthicknessesandhigherminimumcompressivestrengththanstructuralclaytile,butpermitgreatervoidareaandlesserdistancefromexposededgetocoreholethansolidbrick.Therefore,environmentalandstructuralperformancemaybedifferentinelementsconstructedofhollowbrickfromthoseconstructedofstructuralclaytileorsolidbrick.1.5Thetextofthisspecificationreferencesnotesandfootnoteswhichprovideexplanatorymaterial.Thesenotesandfootnotes(excludingthoseintablesandfigures)shallnotbeconsideredasrequirementsofthespecification.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.
